Travelling from Newcastle
Newcastle to King's Cross is about two hours and fifty minutes on a direct service. The onward leg is short, two Underground stops and a five minute walk, so the journey is dominated by the rail portion rather than by London.

From King's Cross the Hammersmith and City, Circle or Metropolitan line reaches Great Portland Street in two stops, then about five minutes on foot.
Newcastle is the point at which a same-day return stops being comfortable. A consultation can be done in a day on an early train, but for the procedure most people travelling from the North East plan around an overnight stay.
North East enquiries tend to come with the clearest questions about total cost including travel, and the consultation is usually scheduled as a video call first to avoid making the trip twice.
